Exit Zero Labs

I had been publishing software under my own name for years before this — two apps on the App Store, and a long tail of tools that never left my machine. Exit Zero Labs, at exitzerolabs.com, is where that work lives now, and it is what a paying customer's invoice question has to be addressed to.

It is bootstrapped by choice: no investors, no growth team, and nobody to answer to except the people using the products.

Three products so far. ThreatForge is open source and free, a desktop app for putting a system design through a STRIDE pass before a review does it for you. Kinnections is paid and end-to-end encrypted, a private map of the people in someone's life. Geo Spot is in beta, a set of geography games.

They have very little in common as products and one thing in common as software: none of them keep your data on a server I control. That constraint is most of what makes them interesting to build, and it is why the hard engineering in all three sits on the client.

Two more repositories sit under the company without being products yet. Runmark keeps HTTP request suites in the repository they belong to and runs them from a terminal or a coding agent. Project Postcard is a monthly email travel magazine whose writing and illustration run as a pipeline, with approve or reject as the only human step.

Solo means the whole surface. Design, implementation, release pipelines across macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and the web, billing and subscriptions, support mail, and whatever is broken at the moment a user notices.

It has made me a much harder judge of scope than salaried work ever did. There is no one to hand a half-finished thing to, so the only version worth starting is the one I can also carry.
