The brief
I photographed the team through games, practices, and events: setting up and running the equipment, editing, and managing the workflow from the sideline to whoever needed the frames next.
The actual assignment was emotion. The fans, and the parts of the team you only see when nobody is playing. Published work ran on Penn State's and Penn State Football's Instagram accounts.
What it taught me
Nothing repeats. You are composing, exposing, and deciding in the same instant, and if you are still thinking about settings the thing you wanted has already happened.
It is the closest thing I have done to production on-call, and I still shoot the way it taught me to: get the frame, then get it right.
